Green Cabs for Blue Skies^SM

On Earth Day 2008 Discount Cab^SM rolled out its new Prius project with the first 20 Toyota Prius cabs. Each Prius will save 4000 gallons of fuel per year. The initial goal is to gradually add 250 Prius vehicles to save 1,000,000 gallons of fuel per year and reduce our carbon footprint by 10,000 tons of Carbon dioxide annually. We’ve named our project “Green Cabs for Blue Skies^SM”. We’re excited at the multiple win scenario presented by the Prius. The Prius has a high crash test rating, interior space comparable to our current Crown Victoria, roomy adaptable storage, and fuel economy that is so good the savings afford us the ability to upgrade the fleet with these more expensive, brand new vehicles. We feel that as the rollout progresses, this new platform will give us a hedge against higher fuel prices and the higher fares that follow. Read the full press release.

When Discount Cab^SM recently completed a $1 million remodeling of its corporate headquarters, we attempted to keep our footprint as small as possible.

We used a new foam building material which provides an R value of 52. We added and upgraded all of our air conditioning systems to high SEER-rated units. These steps allowed us to double our square footage without increasing our utility bills.
